My Schedule for Philcon 2026

As of today, it looks like I’m a go for Philcon 2026, to be held 20-22 November 2026 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. I’ll be there sometime Friday, and I have a bunch of items scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Here’s my schedule of appearances:
- Saturday, 21 November at 1300: “The Games of Triskelion: Not Quite 60 Years of Star Trek Games” (Panel discussion)
- Saturday, 21 November at 1500: “Methodologies for Writing Alternate Histories” (Panel discussion)
- Saturday, 21 November at 1900: “Relief Mission,” an adventure for the upcoming Pioneer RPG for 3-5 players
- Sunday, 22 November at 1100: “The Future of Near-Future SF” (Panel discussion)
- Sunday, 22 November at 1300: “Foundations of Worldbuilding: Modeling Histories” (Seminar)
That last item is part of a seminar series on worldbuilding that I’ve been teaching at Philcon for three years now. In 2024, I talked about techniques for making sure your worldbuilding stays focused on the needs of your literary or game project. In 2025, I presented several recent results in exoplanetary science and talked about the implications for hard-SF worldbuilding. This year, I’ll be talking about different models for history, including universal-history models like those of Oswald Spengler and Arnold J. Toynbee, and generational-cycle models like the one promoted by William Strauss and Neil Howe. These seminars have been pretty well attended. I’ll post my slides for this year’s seminar before the convention.
If you’re going to be at Philcon, come look me up!
